Freshness death spiral with ingredient buy orders
Kyle Bond
I have a buy order for 80% fresh or better ingredients in my store, because I want only the freshest ingredients to cook with. However, I am fine with using 50% fresh ingredients if necessary. Here is the problem: I wake up in the morning and my ingredients are 70% fresh. They are perfectly fine but my store is still buying more because it is not over 80%. Someone comes along and sells me 80% fresh food. That's fine, but the freshness is now 75%, so the store asks for MORE because it isnt 80%. Time passes. My ingredients are back down to 70%. Someone sells me 80% ingredients. Now we're at 75% again. But the store still asks for MORE because it isn't 80%. This can go on forever and I have thousands of ingredients that I do not need. This can happen at any percentage I ask for, 50%, 80%, 20%, the same problem will always arise.

I realize that this is an older post, but I just came on here to make the same suggestion, and I saw your post.
I want a way to set the buy limit in my store so that the TOTAL amount of flour of any freshness can never exceed 200. However, I ONLY want to buy flour that is over 80% fresh.

Can't you just limit the amount you want to buy for one ingredient in the shop ? So you won't get hundreds of it ? or limit the inventory space available from the store ?
